Earth Science Week 2012: Discovering Careers in the Earth Sciences is all about two simple questions: Who are the Earth explorers? And what do they really do?

Through social media events, educational resources, articles and more, NASA is leading students of all ages to discover how NASA Earth explorers help us understand more about our planet each day. IGES, which leads the NASA Earth Science Education and Public Outreach Forum, plays a key role in this effort.

“Not everyone thinks ‘Earth explorer’ when they think NASA and STEM careers,” said Theresa Schwerin, IGES vice president of education. “But NASA Earth explorers have careers that span across the sciences and engineering to education and communications, and can take them to the far reaches of the planet.”
